Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Harringay Carpet Cleaning is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly. We recognise our duty to help prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms, both within our own operations and throughout our supply chains. This statement outlines the steps we are taking to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery associated with our business activities.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Harringay Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations are supported by a network of suppliers that provide cleaning products, equipment, consumables, workwear, and related services. We seek to work only with suppliers that uphold the same high standards of integrity, safety, and respect for human rights that we apply to our own workforce.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. This applies to all aspects of our operations and supply chains. Any form of exploitation, including withholding of identity documents, restriction of freedom of movement, coercion, intimidation, or unfair deductions from wages, is strictly prohibited. We expect all employees, contractors, and suppliers to comply with this policy and to act in a manner consistent with our values at all times.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We are committed to working with suppliers that share our commitment to ethical and lawful employment practices. As part of our due diligence, we communicate our expectations regarding labour standards, health and safety, and human rights to existing and new suppliers. Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we carry out checks to assess compliance with these expectations.

We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers to demonstrate that they have effective controls in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking. These audits may include reviewing employment records, policies, and training materials, as well as discussions with management. If we identify any non-compliance or concerns, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. Where serious or repeated breaches occur, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.

Employee Awareness and Responsibilities

All staff are expected to support our efforts to prevent modern slavery. We inform employees of our zero-tolerance stance and their responsibility to report any concerns about potential exploitation, whether within our operations or the activities of our suppliers. Managers are responsible for promoting a culture of openness and integrity, ensuring that workers feel confident raising concerns without fear of retaliation.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage anyone who becomes aware of, or suspects, any form of modern slavery or human trafficking involving our business or supply chains to raise their concerns promptly. Concerns can be reported through internal reporting routes or directly to senior management. We will treat all reports seriously and confidentially, investigate them fairly and promptly, and take appropriate action where issues are identified.

Retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith is prohibited. We will protect the identity of individuals who report concerns wherever possible and will ensure that no one is disadvantaged for speaking up.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must continue to evolve. We are committed to reviewing this statement and our associated practices at least once every year, or sooner if there are significant changes to our operations or relevant legislation.

As part of the annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our existing measures, consider emerging best practices, and identify opportunities to strengthen our due diligence, supplier engagement, employee awareness, and reporting mechanisms. We will update this statement to reflect any material changes to our policies, processes, or risk assessments.

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Harringay Carpet Cleaning and represents our ongoing commitment to upholding human rights and preventing exploitation in all aspects of our business.
